Commander Ronald R. Hansen

Commander Ronald R. Hansen was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 16, 1929. He graduated from the University of California (Berkeley) in 1952 and was commissioned an Ensign in July 1952 upon completion of the course of study at the U.S. Naval Officers Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island.


Early assignments included four tours of sea duty in units of the Service Force, Amphibious Force and Naval Air Forces of the Pacific and Atlantic Fleets. Since 1958 Commander Hansen has served in the USS MOALE (DD-693), USS HULL (DD-945) and USS KING (DLG-10) in Operations, Engineer and Executive Officer billets. Shore assignments were as Aide and Flag Lieutenant, Potomac River Naval Command, a student at the Armed Forces Staff College and in the Office of Chief of Naval Operations (Strategic Plans Division).


On 31 October 1966 he assumed command of the USS GOLDSBOROUGH (DDG-20) at Pearl Harbor.


Commander Hansen is married to the former Miss Jeanne Given of Santa Ana, California. They have one daughter, Leslie Ann and presently reside in Aiea, Hawaii.
